About Me

I own a landscape supply company and have done fairly well over the years. Until recently, security was never an issue, but then, I had two thefts occur. Someone had stolen mulch and gravel from my supplies. I knew that it was time for me to get serious about increasing security to prevent it from happening a third time. I talked with a fencing contractor about what type of fencing would help improve security without taking away from the pleasant appearance of the grounds. My blog will tell you how we accomplished the increased security using a beautiful new fence.

Planning To Install A New Fence? Why You Should Choose Cedar Wood Fencing

Carter Hopkins

If you are planning to install a new fence on your property you have many options to choose from. One of these options is cedar wood fencing. There are many reasons why this would be a good choice for you, three of which are listed below.

Cedar wood is durable and will last a long time. Considering how much fencing costs to purchase and install this can save you a lot of money down the road. You won't have to worry about the cedar buckling in any way and it will stand straight throughout its lifetime.

Unlike many kinds of wood, cedar holds up well under a variety of weather conditions. For example, it is resistant to rain and high humidity levels. It can withstand high and low temperatures. This means no matter where you live, cedar wood fencing will hold up well.  For added durability, manufacturers put natural oils on cedar making it resistant to insect damage.

Cedar wood fencing is eco-friendly because the trees come from sustainable forests that replant new trees each time trees are removed. This means there is always an abundance of trees available. Also, cedar wood does not have a high carbon footprint.  Cedar biodegrades over time if not in use, which means you do not have to worry about it sitting in a landfill when you're done with it. Cedar can also be recycled and turned into something else, such as a table, chairs, and much more.

Cedar weighs much less when compared to other types of wood. This means when trucks deliver the cedar to building sites they will not use as much fossil fuels, which is good for the environment.

Various Options

With cedar, you have a variety of selections to choose from when it comes to fencing. You can find picket fences, which look great in front of a home. Cedar makes a great privacy fence.  Lattice fences can also be made of cedar wood. Talk with the manufacturer about the type you want, and they can likely build it for you.

Along with a variety of fencing, you can put a topper on the fence. A topper is decorative only, but it can change a basic fence into one that is much more beautiful and unique. A topper also makes the fencing taller which gives you more privacy.
